Digipak complete

*inside right (behind CD) - back cover - front cover - inside left*

Here is the finished article! Overall we are very pleased with the outcome of our digipak. We had previously stated that we wished to continue with a similar 'feel' for the digipak, website and video itself. We feel this has been made successful through incorporating sepia tones and preserving the heavy shadowing, which leads to association between each of them. Clearly it was important that we listened to our audience and provide them with what they wished to see most, which we did through the process of deciding on covers - and to deepen the sense of synergy surrounding the product, we have promoted the band's website on the back of the album.

Digipak finalised

After finding the public's - specifically those within range of our target audience (16-26) - general opinion, we have decided that the sharper image will serve as the back cover to our digipak and that we will include the third in the enclosed booklet. Work on the covers has begun and will be completed in the coming days.

Re-shoot Success

On Tuesday the 25th we went back to our location to do some more filming. We decided to do a re-shoot after we had seen what our music video looked like. Some of the shots were either too jittery or too dark for us to see the actor. We looked to address these problems in our re-shoot. This time we did more shots using the tripod rather than before when we used handheld shots. After re-doing the shots they looked much better than our previous shots, when we started to edit them. We also managed to do some extra shots which we have used in our music video. Overall the filming went well and we are pleased with the new shots.

Update

Having uploaded our footage into Final Cut Express and started the editing process, it has come to our attention that a few of the preliminary shots - particulary tracking shots in the middle of the song - are not up to standard and for the sake of continuity and general editing quality we have scheduled a re-shoot for January 25th. Shots with Christmas lights involved came out well and will not require re-doing, which is fortunate considering they won't be there anymore!

It will mean that editing will become our top priority over the next couple of weeks in order to keep up to speed, however it is nothing beyond our control.

Digipak Cover(s)

On our original night of filming (02/01/11) - we took a number of potential covers for our digipak along with our previously provided production stills. We chose the particular alleyway due to the effective lighting and the environment it provided for our images. Though we have selected our cover, we are still debating between a potential two back covers. They are essentially the same shot, the main difference really being that one of them has Josh's character in focus and the other partially blurred, with the view to accentuating the character's insignificance within his surrounding. Included is the front cover as well as the two potential backs.

BACK:

It is likely that over the coming days we will ask around and find a general consensus as to the better suited back cover. The cover that isn't selected may instead be used for the CD's booklet.

Filming

Earlier in our blog we had decided to film on Monday 20th, Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd. However, before these dates we found out we would not be able to film in front of the cinema because of scaffolding, so we postponed filming until after Christmas so we could find a new starting location. On Monday 2nd we filmed the middle section of our music video which took longer than expected due to the amount of takes we had to do. We also took pictures for our digipack which altogether went very well. The next day we filmed the beginning of the video in our new location on one of the lower side streets down Abbeygate Street. We also managed to film the end of the video which we were very happy with.

These are some of the pictures we took during filming.
